Artist Statement

I have always been an admirer of the Old Masters, and a student of classical technique. To explore the possibilities of oil paint is one of the most fulfilling things that I have ever experienced. I thoroughly enjoy creating paintings layer by layer, and seeing how the layers interact with one another. Painting portraits, landscapes, and still life over the years has honed my capabilities, and I will continue to produce paintings in those genres. I will also continue to experiment and evolve by way of creating more allegorical scenes. Every work of art has a narrative, yet what I really want to convey is the turbulent landscape inside of the human psyche. Sometimes mysteries are unraveled through the creative process, and there are things that I feel must be “said”.
